Composer, conductor and arranger of Dutch descent. A jazz trumpet player during the 1920's. Between 1935 and 1942, he worked in radio on the East Coast as staff arranger for CBS, later arranging for Paul Whiteman, Andre Kostelanitz and Raymond Paige. In Hollywood (initially at Paramount) as arranger/orchestrator from 1945.
