Jakob Stark (* 1982) is a German Cinematographer.
Jakob Stark studied film in Italy and graduated with honors, creating two diploma films.
Among his teachers was Sophie Maintigneux.
For his internationally acclaimed graduation film, Guanape Sur, which won awards at the IFF San Sebastian, Stark received a nomination at the Camerimage.
Jakob Stark made his feature film debut with Dal Profondo, which won an award at the IFF Rome and was featured at film festivals in Turin, IDFA, and Visions du Réel.
The film also received a David Di Donatello Award nomination.
A few years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Stark shot the feature film Half-Life in Fukushima/Demi-Vie à Fukushima on 16mm in the no-go area.
The film was screened at film festivals such as Visions du Réel, Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, and the SFIFF.
At the Berlinale, three feature films premiered — Dream Boat, Kids in the Spotlight, and Überall wo wir sind (which won in its section) — where Stark was responsible for the cinematography.
His cinematography for Riafn, winner at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, was awarded First Prize Best Cinematography at the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island Film Festival.
