1975

Tom Johnston is not only one of the founding members of The Doobie Brothers, but he also composed many of their greatest hits including: "Listen to The Music", "Rockin Down the Highway", "Long Train Running", "China Grove" and "The Doctor". He played guitar for the group, and was the main lead singer and guitarist. In 1975, during a tour promoting The Doobie Brothers' album "Stampede", Tom came down with a stomach ailment and Michael McDonald replaced Tom as the lead singer of the group. Tom returned to the group after recuperation, but soon left again to pursue a solo career, releasing an album entitled "Everything You Heard Is True".

1982

In 1982, he reunited with the group on their Farewell Tour.

1987

In 1987, The Doobie Brothers grouped together once again with the lineup featured on their first successful album "Toulouse Street".

1989

They released the album "Cycles" in 1989, and "Brotherhood" in 1991.

2004
