Timeline

1966

The E-Types were a mid 60s garage rock band from Salinas, California. The group was formed in 1966. The band members were: Bob Wence (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Jody Wence (vocals/keyboards), Don Shephard (vocals/lead guitar), Danny Monigold (bass guitar), and Reg Shaffer (drums). Their debut single "I Can't Do It/Long Before" was released on a small local label and subsequently picked up for wider distribution on the Dot label. Two of their records peaked at #1 on the local radio charts, but the group never had a major national hit. At the height of their popularity the E-Types earned $1000 a show. They did what was widely considered the best cover version of the obscure Beatles song "Love of the Loved. " The band's finest hour came with the groovy psychedelic rock gem "Put the Clock Back on the Wall," which was produced by Ed Cobb (who also co-wrote and produced songs for the rival Los Angeles garage rock outfit the Standells). This funky little ditty was played constantly on the soundtrack to the nifty soft-core exploitation picture "Blonde on a Bum Trip.

1967

" The group broke up by the end of 1967. Their last recording was released under the pseudonym Charolette Wood.
