Like many African-American men in the 1940s and 50s, he worked as a railroad porter (for the Union Pacific in Portland). Afterwards, he had a lifelong love of trains.

1969

He was an actor, known for Bracken's World (1969), Police Story (1973) and The Love Bug (1968). He was married to Ellen Duke.

1971

Was one of the first black television journalists on local Los Angeles television. His career was cut short when he was sentenced to a five-year prison sentence for killing his estranged wife's ex-lover in 1971.
