Tepper and Roy Bennett, during their partnership from 1945 to 1970, published more than 300 songs. Among the artists who recorded their songs: the Beatles ("Glad All Over"), Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Rosemary Clooney. Elvis Presley was Tepper's biggest client, even though the two never met in person. Presley recorded 56 Tepper-Bennett songs for his string of movies in the 1960s.

1970

Following a heart attack in the 1970s, he retired to Florida.

2002

In 2002 he and his songwriting partner Roy C. Bennett were honored at ceremonies in Memphis, Tennessee by Lisa Marie Presley for their contributions to her father's career.
