British conductor, a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music. Worked in the West End of London, conducting musicals, before starting film work as an arranger in the early 30s. Sponsored by director Val Guest to join Hammer Studios in 1954. Eventually succeeded John Hollingsworth as musical director after 1963. Worked in the same capacity for Tyburn Films. Later headed his own orchestra, performing on BBC radio.
