Timeline
Pete Ewing (born Peter Nathaniel Ewing, 4 August 1986) is an Australian singer/songwriter, musician, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California.
In 2012, Pete Ewing and his brother William Ewing were cast on the Australian television soap opera, Neighbours in 2012 as the real life band 'Red Cotton'. Songs were performed by their actual band, 'William and the Tells'. Neighbours had been looking for a band and had already auditioned seventy groups, "but none of them could act," except William and Pete Ewing who have grown up surrounded by the performing arts. They got the job. The band 'William and the Tells' wrote and performed all original material as "Red Cotton" during Season 1 of 2012.
In March 2015, while in the United States, Pete played solo shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas. On returning to Los Angeles he handed some demos into PAX AM in Hollywood. Producer & Ryan Adams guitarist, Mike Viola & Adams himself were so impressed with the material, they contacted Ewing, who had, by this time returned to Australia. Ewing was later invited to record an album at the famed "Ardent Studios", planned for September 2015 & by then, owned by Jody Stephens (drummer of seminal 70's band Big Star, in Memphis. This was all at the invitation of Mike Viola, himself a "Big Star" fan. Ewing formed a band to record on the album in Tennessee. The members of "Pete Ewing & His Killer New Band" were Melbourne's alternative garage rock-n-roll scene, Tim McCormack, Jeb Cardwell, Gus Agars and Joe Cope.
In September, 2015, Ewing was denied entry to the US. due to VISA problems. Ewing had to cancel performances at Americana fest and recording sessions at Ardent studios. The band broke up, however, Ewing, with the help of Producer Mike Viola, was able to re-enter the United States 18 months later in June, 2017. Ewing recorded his second album What You Wanted (2018) "at Barebones Studios in Los Angeles, CA with producer Mike Viola on keys, guitars & backing vocals & Co Producer Jason Boesel on drums, Ukulele, and backing vocals."
What You Wanted' (2018) is the 2nd album release by Australian recording artist Pete Ewing, following the 2017 debut album, "None Of My Friends Are Happy".
