Pat Patterson was born on January 19, 1941 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as Pierre Clermont.

1979

Was crowned the first WWF Intercontinental Champion on September 15, 1979. He was said to have won a tournament in Rio de Janeiro to gain the title. In reality the tournament never took place. It was WWE's way of renaming the title by claiming a tournament took place where Pat unified his North American Heavyweight Championship with a South American one. He held the Championship on the one occasion, losing to Olympic strongman Ken Patera on April 21, 1980, in Madison Square Garden, New York.

1980

Worked with the WWE in the talent relations field as well as being a road agent/producer from the 1980's - 2000's. He is credited with coming up with the idea for the Royal Rumble match, as well as booking it for years.

1981

In the early 1980s, he and Sgt. Slaughter had some of the most critically acclaimed and bloodiest matches of that time, wrestling in boot camp matches in many live cards. Their Alley Fight on April 21, 1981 was voted Wrestling Observer Newsletters Match of the Year.
