Morris Sheppard Arnold (born October 8, 1941) is a Senior United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and previously was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.
Born in 1941, in Texarkana, Texas, Arnold received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree in 1965 from the University of Arkansas, a Bachelor of Laws in 1968 from the University of Arkansas School of Law, a Master of Laws in 1969 from Harvard Law School and a Doctor of Juridical Science in 1971 from the same institution.
He entered private practice in Texarkana, Arkansas in 1968.
He was a teaching fellow in law at Harvard University from 1969 to 1970.
He was a professor at Indiana University Maurer School of Law from 1971 to 1977.
He was Vice President of the University of Pennsylvania and a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School from 1977 to 1981.
He was a professor at the William H. Bowen School of Law from 1981 to 1984.
He returned to private practice in Little Rock, Arkansas from 1981 to 1984.
He was Special Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court in 1982.
