Melati's victory succeeded in maintaining East Java's position as the province that won one of the final titles of the contest for 4 consecutive editions, after Rr. Ayu Maulida Putri won Puteri Indonesia in the 24th edition, Adinda Cresheilla won the title of Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata in the 25th edition, and Yasinta Aurellia won the title of Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan in the 26th edition.

In May 2024, through an official organizational announcement, Melati was appointed to represent Indonesia in the 2nd edition of the Miss Charm pageant which is scheduled to be held in 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Previously, the organization had appointed Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2023 Lulu Zaharani Krisna Widodo to compete in this edition, but due to the long postponement of the contest, she finally decided to resign and agreed to be replaced.

Melati is an activist, philanthropist and advocate who focuses on issues of education and children's rights.

At the end of the event, Melati was successfully announced as having won second place as 1st Runner-Up before the contest was won by Adinda Cresheilla from Malang, which led her to represent East Java province in the 25th edition of Puteri Indonesia.

In 2024, Melati tried again to take part in the same pageant and again became a representative for Surabaya.

The competition was held at the Novotel Samator Ballroom, Surabaya, East Java on November 24, 2023.

At the end of the event, she was successfully selected as the winner and was crowned by her predecessor Yasinta Aurellia from Sidoarjo Regency.

After successfully winning the title, Melati has the right to represent East Java province in the 27th edition of Puteri Indonesia.

After successfully winning the title of Puteri Indonesia Jawa Timur 2024, Melati then represented the province of East Java in the national beauty contest Puteri Indonesia 2024 which was held on March 8, 2024, at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center in Central Jakarta.

The pageant was held as a celebration for International Women's Day.

At the end of the event, Melati managed to qualify for the top sixteen, top six, top four, until she was crowned the fourth winner with the title Puteri Indonesia Pendidikan & Kebudayaan 2024, she was crowned by her predecessor Dinda Nur Safira from Yogyakarta SR as 3rd Runner-Up in the previous edition.

Before her win, Melati was announced as the recipient of the Best Traditional Costume special award.

Melati Tedja was born on July 7, 1999, in Palembang, South Sumatra.

Her father comes from Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan and her mother comes from Palembang in South Sumatra.

Since childhood, she grew up and was raised in Palembang before she and her family decided to move to Surabaya in East Java in 2008.

Melati has Chinese blood from her parents, she is also the first daughter in her family.

Melati has taken her first high school education from Santa Maria Surabaya Junior High School, and then completed her high school studies from Petra 1 Surabaya Christian Senior High School in Surabaya.

In 2021, Melati succeeded in obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (SH) after completing her Law studies from Pelita Harapan University in Jakarta.

Melati made her beauty pageant debut by being selected as a contestant for the Miss Celebrity Indonesia 2016 pageant by becoming a representative for the city of Surabaya.

The event was held on October 13, 2016, at Emtek's 6th Studio, Jakarta.

At the end of the event, Melati had not succeeded in obtaining a position in the contest placement before finally the pageant was won by Jasi Michelle Tumbel from Manado, North Sulawesi.

In 2021, Melati returned to beauty pageants by competing in the provincial contest for the selection of Puteri Indonesia Jawa Timur 2022 which was held at the Grand Mercure Ballroom, Surabaya, East Java on October 1, 2021.

Since May 2018, she has joined 1000 Guru (1000 Teachers), a community platform whose aim is to provide guidance and access to education in desolate areas in Indonesia.

Through her social media, Melati also initiated the #MELiveTheDream campaign which focuses on supporting her education advocacy.
