He played college football at Wisconsin, and signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2013.

On April 27, 2013, Cromartie signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent.

2014

On October 29, 2014, Cromartie was signed to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad but was released the next day.
