French composer, employed by Marie de Lorraine, the Duchess of Guise, around 1670, followed by a successful collaboration with Molière; later appointed music teacher to Philippe, Duke of Chartres, and during the mid-1680s until 1698 served as composer and maître de musique at the principal Jesuit church in Paris, St Louis.
