Mai Văn Phấn was born 1955 in Ninh Bình, Red River Delta in North Vietnam.

1974

He joined the army infantry in 1974.

1981

Mai Văn Phấn left the army in 1981 and entered Hanoi College of Foreign Languages, Department of Linguistics and Russian culture.

1983

Continued learning in 1983 at Maxim Gorky Pedagogics School, Minsk, (Capital of the Byelorussian SSR).

He has published 16 poetry books and one book, Critiques - Essays in Vietnam.
