Seeded 25th at the Australian Open, he made it to the third round where he was defeated by Miomir Kecmanović.
Seeded fourth at the Córdoba Open, Sonego lost in the quarterfinals to sixth seed, last year finalist, and eventual champion, Albert Ramos Viñolas.
