She works in installation, sound, video, bookworks and writing.

Maestro lived in Manila until she immigrated to Canada in the 1982.
She pursued an MFA at NSCAD University in Halifax.
She taught studio arts at the Nova Scotia College Of Art and Design (now known as NSCAD University).
