Kim lost to Russell in the finals of the 1994 USTA National Boys' 16 Singles Championships.

He beat Russell in the finals of the 1994 USTA National Boys' 16 Clay Court Championships, and lost to Russell in the finals of the 1994 Easter Bowl Boys' 16s Championships.
