Born Julian Burroughs, he took the name Julian Burroughs to back up his false assertion that he was the son of Beat writer William S. Burroughs, (In real life, William S. Burroughs Jr. , who was also a writer. )Dungan also took the name Julian Burroughs as he was an Army deserter who appeared as an anti-war activist in "The Nude Restaurant.
