Second-feature director, began his directing career at Republic in 1935 then moved to Columbia, eventually partnering with director William Witney to make what many serial aficionados regard as the best serials to ever come out of Hollywood. Went over to Columbia Pictures, where he was under contract from 1947--51, making many Gene Autry westerns. From the 1960s worked as director for episodic television.
