Jimmy

Jimmy was born November 19, 1946 in Tennessee, USA. He is best known for Actors Anonymous, One Last Dance, The Suitcase, Song From a Blackbird, and Temps de Paix.

He relocated back and forth to Cleveland, Ohio beginning in 1955, which eventually became his permanent home in 1960 with his mother Mattie who retired as a pediatric nurse. His dad Freddie was a railroad train waiter who retired as a truck driver with a major meat packing company. Jimmy's acting connection revealed itself at 8 years old. When alone in the forest he would act out scenes between his separated siblings and himself mimicking what he had seen on television.

Jimmy played Point Guard basketball on Cleveland Piper's center #44 Billy Macdonald's travel team - after the Piper's dissolved in 1961. Billy's Piper coach was John McLendon. John was the first Afro-American professional coach in professional Basketball. The Piper's were organized by Globetrotter Abe Saperstein, but owned by George Steinbrenner.

Worked as a clubhouse kid for the Cleveland Indians in 1962.

He was the first Afro-American enrolled at Cleveland State University in 1965.

His career began on stage in 1966 first directed by Dorothy Silver at the famous Karamu House. He got the first role he auditioned for after a rainy day slip injury on the baseball mound that ended his hopes of becoming a professional baseball pitcher. His first acting audition was on a dare from his wife Nancy; that if she auditioned would he audition, and he got the role.

Worked as Assistant for The Fifth Dimension 1968-1970.

Brought the empty Midnight Cowboy black and white cowhide suitcase from New York back to Hollywood. Does not remember who gave it to him or who received it from him. Should be a Smithsonian item. [May 1969]

He was presented The Silver Medal of Honor in Japan, along with The 5th Dimension, that reads: Expo Hall Japan World Exposition Expo '70.

Jimmy's California Real Estate Broker credentials has been held by The University of San Francisco since 1986.

Selected as role model actor of the year by a northern California college in 1988.

The Last Supper a film in which Jimmy played Earl, a dementia patient, was selected Red Dirt International Film Festival Official Selection for 2013 in Stillwater Oklahoma.

Song From A Blackbird a film, in which Jimmy plays the Professor, is in Festival de Cannes 2014 Court Metrage.

One Last Dance showcases at The Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner 2015.

Hibiscus, a film in which Jimmy plays Homeless Boombox, premieres at The Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival [HRIFF]. February 20, 2016.

The Suitcase premieres at The Tribeca Film Festival 2017.

Silence premieres in Dances With Films Festival [DWF] at TCL Chinese Theatres. Jimmy plays role of 2nd Man In Black Car. June 2018.
