Outfielder/First Baseman/Third Baseman for the New York Mets (1962-1966), Los Angeles Dodgers (1967), Chicago Cubs (1968-1973) and St. Louis Cardinals (1974).

1963

He was the first NY Met to hit for the cycle, on Aug. 7th, 1963 against The St. Lois Cardinals at The Polo Grouds. He was also the first NY Met to have 3 HRS in a game. against the St.Louis Cardinals at Sportsmen's Park, on Sept. 3rd, 1965.

1964

In some circles, Shea Stadium, where the Mets moved to from The Polo Grounds in 1964 and Jim played for 3 of his 5 Met seasons 1964-66, was lovingly referred to as "The House that Hickman built". He did respond with double figures in HRs in 2 of his 3 seasons at Shea. His last season at Shea was cut short by an injury caused by an attempted diving catch. In 1970, as an All Star with The Chicago Cubs, he hit a career high of 32 HRs.

1970

Playing for The Chicago Cubs in 1970, he batted .315 with 162 hits, 33 doubles, 32 home runs,115 runs batted in, 93 walks and 102 runs scored. As a result, he was The National Comeback Player Of The Year and finished 8th in balloting for MVP.
