1941

When America entered the war in 1941, he was commissioned as an officer in the US Army and assigned to public relations. After posts to Washington and London, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and appointed senior press aide to Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, taking part in the North African, Sicilian, Italian and Normandy landings.

1946

From 1946-56 he was news editor, general manager, editor in chief and vice president of Pathe News.
