Timeline

1985

I started to play and write music on a piano at my parent's home as early as I remember. Melodies and harmonies meant the world to me. Words seemed meaningless compared to sounds and the way it could be organized. Just before I turned 19, I started touring as a multi-instrumentalist in a kind of "new-wave/post-punk" band, Tuxedomoon, and when we wouldn't be on the road, I wrote music on an old piano I bought on a flee-market and pursued my studies in harmony and chamber music. My very first music for film came 1985, "St Gilles mon biotope" by director Anita Beni, assisted by better known Boris Lehman. Using my own cello, tenor sax, also a friend's violin and some keyboards: I had been impressed by John Lurie's soundtrack for "Stranger than Paradise" (dir. Jim Jarmusch) or Steward Copeland's "Rumble Fish" (dir. F. F. Coppola). . . By the end of the '90s, I had realized film music was the only thing I really wanted to do. The Belgian success of "Gabriel's Dream" (aka "Le Rêve de Gabriel", directed by A.

1997

Levy-Morelle) offered me this possibility : awarded "André Cavens' best Belgian film of the year 1997", it opened many doors for me to meet film directors, in Belgium, France, Holland, Switzerland or Germany.

2019
