Played bass in the orchestra accompanying Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians on NBC radio in the 1940s and 1950s (and later the Waring TV program) as "Lumpy" Brannum. Originated stories about "Little Orley," a farm kid, for the Waring radio show and recorded under the name Uncle Lumpy.
