He beat Kaveh Mehrabi from Iran 21-16 21-12 in the first round, Nguyen Tien Minh from Vietnam 21-16 15-21 21-15 in the second round and defeated Wong Choong Hann from Malaysia 14-21 21-17 21-18 in the third round.

He was stopped by Lee Hyun-il from Korea in Macau, the same player who defeated him in the 2008 Olympics games.
In 2010, Hsieh was very weak in many tournaments.
