Songwriter ("I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", "By the Beautiful Sea"), pianist and composer, he was a pianist in film theatres and in cafes and vaudeville, and later an arranger for music publishers. He was a contract writer for Winter Garden productions, and wrote the Broadway stage scores for "The Passing Show of 1914", "Dancing Around", "Maid in America", "Oh, Look!", and "The Little Blue Devil".

He wrote songs for the "Ziegfeld Follies" (1920 and 1921), and the "Greenwich Village Follies".
