Fred Dewilde (1966 – May 5, 2024 ) was a French cartoonist and survivor of the Bataclan terrorist attack in Paris.

2015

Attending a concert at the Bataclan on November 13, 2015, Fred Dewilde survived the coordinated terrorist attack carried out by Islamist militants in Paris.

Despite physically escaping the massacre at the Bataclan, where he spent two hours amidst the bodies and the dying, the trauma eventually caught up with Dewilde.

2016

He published the comic book Mon Bataclan (My Bataclan) in 2016, and then La Morsure (The Bite) in 2018, both works about the Bataclan.

He also contributed until his death, to the creation of a Terrorism Memorial Museum, which is expected to open its doors in 2027.

Fred Dewilde took his own life on May 5, 2024.
