1930

He was an actor and writer, known for Juno and the Paycock (1930), Murder! (1930) and The Skin Game (1931). He was married to Prudence Nesbitt and Constance Willis Spark.

1941

Took a break from acting and joined the Royal Air Force during World War Two. He was commissioned as a Pilot Officer and served as the Intelligence Officer for a Spitfire Squadron during 1941 and 1942.

1953

Started a petition to force Sir John Gielgud to resign from Equity when the actor was arrested for soliciting in 1953. Sir Laurence Olivier threw Chapman out of his dressing room when he tried to get his signature for the petition.
