He was the keyboardist of the UK group the The Applejacks, best known for the 1964 hit "Tell me when" which reached No 7 in the British charts. In the 70s, he wrote a number of pop songs together with writers such as Christine Holmes (of "Devil Woman" fame) and Lynsey de Paul.
