1974

David Zini (born 9 January 1974) is an Israel Defense Forces major general, currently serving as head of Training Command and Commander of the 446 Corps.

1994

Zini, of a Jewish Religious-Zionist family, enlisted in 1994 and began his service in Sayeret Matkal.

He later served in Golani Brigade during the South Lebanon conflict.

In the late ninthies he served as an officer in Unit Egoz.

Zini was called to Operation Defensive Shield while at the middle of a study leave.

2000

He led his Battalion during numerous engagements against militant terrorist, mainly Hamas, in the Gaza Strip during the late 2000s, the largest of which was Operation Cast Lead.

2006

During the 2006 Lebanon War he served at the Command and control of Golani Brigade, and was later appointed to commander of its 51 battalion.

2011

In 2011 Zini was made colonel and commander of the Alexandroni Brigade.

2014

During Operation Protective Edge in 2014, Zini took command of the Golani Brigade, after its commander, Ghassan Alian, was injured in battle, and led it during the Battle of Shuja'iyya.

Later he served as Operations officer of Central Command and Commander of the newly founded Oz Brigade.

2018

In 2018 Zini was made Commander of the 340th Division, Stationed in central command.

2020

Zini also served in multiple training and instruction posts, and in 2020 was made head of the National Center for Land Training.

Zini lives in the Golan Heights, he is married to Naomi and father of eleven.

In May 2023 Zini was promoted to Major General, and received the posts of 446 Corps commander as well as head of Training Command.

With the surprise invasion of Hamas into Israel, Zini rushed to the front and took an active part in the fightings against terrorists on the ground.
