Wrote, with assistance from Michael Bakewell, the script for the radio adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, broadcast in 1981 on BBC4. This version featured cast members from other LOTR adaptations: Michael Graham Cox and Peter Woodthorpe reprised their respective roles of Boromir and Gollum from Lord of the Rings (1978), and Ian Holm (Frodo in the radio version) went on to play Bilbo in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). This version, originally broadcast in 26 half-hour episodes, then later re-edited into 13 hour-long episodes, is generally regarded as one of the most faithful adaptations attempted to date.
