In 1991, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

1992

He was selected by the Mariners in the 4th round of the 1992 MLB Draft.

1996

Sheets played for the Seattle Mariners (1996–1997), San Diego Padres (1998), Anaheim Angels (1999), Boston Red Sox (2000) and Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2001–2002).

1997

Sheets helped the Mariners win the 1997 American League Western Division and the Padres win the 1998 National League Pennant.
