Timeline
Wayne Caparas is a writer, media producer, business developer, and occasional performing artist who lives in Nashville. Before the turn of the century, Wayne was recognized among the top public relations pioneers in the fitness industry. His earliest professional production efforts dealt with fitness media and the pioneering of obstacle course sports for broadcast on ESPN. In addition to the development of an award-winning chain of health clubs in Charleston, SC (LifeQuest), Wayne was a co-publisher of Vie Magazine and was instrumental in the conception and launch of Oxygen Magazine, where he served as a contributing editor and research journalist for its first three years on the newsstand. During this time Wayne received extensive training as an actor and director for both film and stage, including long study with the New American Stage Company in New York and Charleston. His film life began with the 1988 movie Quiet Victory, where being in the right place at the right time found him working as the technical advisor to director Roy Campanella Jr. for the football-related film. Peter Berg, Kyle Chandler, Stephen Dorf, Michael NOURI, Pam Dawber, Dan Lauria, Reginald VelJohnson, and Nobel Willingham led the all-star cast he worked with while still just a college student.
A year later he launched his first health club and continued studying stage and film as a hobby, eventually earning his SAG card in 1994 for his role as prize fighter Pepe Alvarez in Truman Capote's classic "Other Voices Other Rooms. " His hobby continued to progress as he filled small film roles throughout the '90s, and he eventually began writing and directing large passion plays for churches in Charleston. After a serious thyroid disorder triggered a career change to work as a writer and media consultant, his creative pursuits also shifted to worship arts and non-fiction manuscripts.
This trend continued until 2005 when documentary short films and music production took over as his primary creative efforts.
In 2008 Wayne released an LP of original songs titled "Gospel Project" that was well received by indie critics, and in 2010 he relocated to Nashville to engage the music industry, to write, and to serve a variety of media ministries.
In July 2010 Wayne relocated to Franklin, TN to focus on writing, music business, and various ministries in the major media market of Greater Nashville.
In 2016 Wayne returned to occasional film acting with recurring roles in The Detour and The Vampire Diaries, and has followed up with several principal and lead roles in non-fiction and family-friendly films.
