Vibhav Kant Upadhyay (born 10 December 1969) is an Indian development leader. He is currently the chairman of India Center Foundation. He is also the founder and director general of India Japan Global Partnership (IJGP). He is best known for his support to establish better relations between India & Japan. IJGPS was the first edition of Global Partnership Summit (GPS).
The manifestation of Upadhyay's thought process and leadership can be seen in the macro initiative, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), which was formed to re-establish the industrial culture of India. He is involved in contemplating, proclaiming, incubating, incorporation and execution of solutions for socio-economic challenges that will help the nations be more Energy efficient, Environmentally responsible and achieve Sustainable developments. Hon. Yukio Hatoyama on his visit to India in 2009, signed an agreement to create a Project Development Fund between Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) and Japan External Trade Organization to create eco-friendly townships along the Delhi-Mumbai corridor.
India-Japan Global Partnership Forum 2010 is an initiative by Vibhav and India Center Foundation with a mission of Two Nations One Goal. The framework of India- Japan Global Partnership (IJGP), is being taken forward through the institutionalized platform of India-Japan Global Partnership Summit. It is considered a historical initiative which has opened up a new chapter in India Japan relations. He had persuaded Hon. Yoshirō Mori the prime minister of Japan to visit India in 2000.
The India-Japan global partnership (IJGP) summit was held in the Prince Park Tower, Tokyo from 5 to 7 September 2011. The ‘India-Japan Global Partnership' initiative was announced in the year 2000 by the former Prime Minister of India, Hon. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Vibhav Kant Upadhyay has established the IJGP initiative and is therefore, widely regarded as the architect of modern India-Japan relationship. He has nurtured and strengthened the strategic relationship between the two nations.
Upadhyay addressed the IJGPS Opening Ceremony in 2011 with the notable speakers Hon.
