Thierno Barry (footballer, born 2002)

It was a home game in the St. Jakob-Park and his goal in 25th minute was the first goal of the match.

However the match turned.

First in the 54th minute, Barry fouled his opponent and gave rise to a penalty which goalkeeper Mirko Salvi was able save.

Then, just three minutes later, positioned on his own goalline, he prevented the equaliser with his hand, which incurred a second penalty.

Barry was showna straight red card for his action and was dismissed for the second time in his first two matches with the club.

At full time Basel had been defeated 3–1.

Born in France, Barry is of Guinean descent.

The game was not only due to the result a bad start to the season, but Barry himself was shown his second yellow card in the 69th minute and he was therefore dismissed.

He scored his first goal for his new club in his next game.

This was in the first leg of the 2023–24 UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round, five days later on 27 July against Tobol from Kazakhstan.

Thierno Barry (born 21 October 2002) is a French footballer who plays mainly as a forward for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League.

On 6 July 2022, after a successful test period, Barry was awarded a contract for two seasons in Belgium with Beveren.

However twelve months later, on 3 July 2023, Swiss Super League club FC Basel announced that Barry had signed in on a four-year contract.

He joined Basel's first team for their 2023–24 season under head coach Timo Schultz.

After playing in two test games, Barry played his domestic league debut for the club in the away game at the Kybunpark on 22 July, as Basel were defeated 2–1 by St. Gallen.
