Canadian-Jewish playwright and screenwriter. During the 1930's, worked in Montreal as a journalist for the leftist Canadian publication The Daily Clarion. In 1937, Allan joined the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion to fight fascism during the Spanish Civil War.
