Steven Fischer's two strongest passions in life are cartoons and live action filmmaking. His Steve & Bluey cartoons have been amusing audiences since 1989 in books such as There's a Blue Dog Under My Bed; on TV with Steve & Bluey: In a Minute (TCI-TV, 1996-1999); and in radio comedies for the Holiday Broadcasting Company. "The Wonderful, Happy, Cartoony World of Steve & Bluey" is the latest Steve & Bluey book.
Emmy-winning animation producer Steve Melendez, son of famed Disney animator Bill Melendez, has been Steven Fischer's mentor since 1991. Melendez, famous for the Charlie Brown animated films, got Fischer his start in animation.
At the age of 24, Fischer was accepted into the prestigious Directors Guild of America (member from 1996-2001).

Fischer was named as a member of the jury for the Academy Awards-qualifying Chicago International Children's Film Festival in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016.
In 2014, the ultra luxury mega yacht SeaDream (SeaDream Yacht Club) invited Fischer as a guest speaker on creativity on a Transatlantic crossing from San Juan, Puerto Rico to London.
In 2015, Fischer was a guest of Cunard's famed ocean liner Queen Mary 2 speaking on creativity and the history of cartoons during QM2's World Cruise.
