Silas Allred (born May 28, 2002) is an American folkstyle and freestyle wrestler who competes at 197 pounds for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
He is a two-time Indiana state champion and a Big Ten champion.
Allred was born in Anderson, Indiana and attended Shenandoah High School in Middletown, Indiana.
As a freshman ('16–'17), he finished fifth in the IHSAA Semi-State Tournament but would win the Indiana Frosh-Soph state title at 170 pounds.
As a sophomore ('17–'18), Allred suffered an injury during the football season delaying the start of his wrestling season.
He also bumped up to the 182-pound weight class.
He would finish fifth at the IHSAA State Finals but win the ISWA State Finals.
During the offseason, Allred wrestled at 195 pounds and would win the USAW Junior/Cadets Nationals and the Fargo National Championships.
As a junior ('18–'19), Allred would win all 35 matches and become the first wrestler at Shenandoah to win an Indiana state title.
As a senior ('19–'20), he would finish another undefeated season with 39 wins, becoming a back-to-back state champion at 195 pounds.
Allred finished his high school career with a total record of 146 wins and two losses (44–1, 28–1, 35–0, 39–0).
He also ended his career with a 74-match winning streak.
As of 2024, Allred has the most wins (146) and the most state titles (2) in Shenandoah history.
On National Signing Day in November 2019, Allred committed to Mark Manning and the Nebraska Cornhuskers as the No. 1 ranked 195-pounder and No. 2 ranked overall wrestler in the state of Indiana.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Allred's freshman season was postponed to 2021.
Nebraska would wrestle in just six meets with nine total opponents.
Allred would make his collegiate debut as an extra on January 8 against Minnesota, losing by decision to Dylan Anderson.
A week later, Allred would wrestle as an extra again against Iowa, winning his first collegiate match facing Connor Corbin by major decision.
Allred finished his true freshman season 1–1, but due to the COVID-19 eligibility rules, he did not use up any of his eligibility and would be considered a freshman for the 2021–22 wrestling season.
Allred was redshirted during the 2021–22 season.
Allred would compile a 3–0 Division I record and a 7–0 overall record.
In the 2021 Daktronics Open, Allred wrestled unattached.
In the semifinals, Allred would end up pinning the eventual All-American, Yonger Bastida of Iowa State.
He finished the day with another pin, winning his first career in-season tournament.
Allred also competed unattached in the 2022 Hastings Open, where he won all three matches via falls and earned gold for the second time at an in-season tournament.
Allred was named the 197-pound starter before the 2022–23 season.
He made his dual-meet debut on November 4, 2022, beating NDSU's Owen Pentz in sudden victory, 4–2.
In the 2022 Journeymen Collegiate Classic, Allred went 3–0, including a medical forfeit win in the finals.
Allred also helped Nebraska win the 2022 Navy Classic title with an individual championship.
On February 7, 2023, Allred was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week.
In Nebraska's final in-season competition, Allred finished in fifth place at the Cliff Keen Invitational after going 4–2.
He was awarded a first-round bye in the 2023 Big Ten Conference Championships as the No. 2 seed.
In the quarterfinals, Allred defeated Gavin Hoffman, 6–2.
Allred became the fifth Husker to qualify for the Big Ten finals after he defeated Zac Braunagel of Illinois, 4–3.
He would be matched up against No. 1 and former National champion, Max Dean.
Allred was crowned the Big Ten champion after he scored a takedown in each of the three periods to defeat Dean, 6–3.
Allred was given the No. 8 seed in the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Allred defeated Michael Battista, 13–7, in the first round.
In the second round, he was matched up against Max Dean, whom he had beaten in the Big Ten finals.
Allred would win his match against Dean, 7–2.
