1976

In 1976, he switched to the BBC and his prior experience with televised darts helped him to become one of the commentators on the first World Professional Darts Championship when it began in 1978. He stayed with the BBC until 1994.

1986

He was a writer and producer, known for Jossy's Giants (1986), The Flaxton Boys (1969) and Sloggers (1994). He was married to Irene.

1994

From 1994 he became an independently employed commentator, but it now mainly associated with his work with Sky Sports.

1999

In 1999 he was the "Voice of the Balls" on BBC One's National Lottery Red Alert on one occasion before he claimed he was sacked for being "too Geordie".
