Heiner took 7th place in the Finn.

Heiner holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Durban-Westville (1980–1985).

1992

In 1992 Summer Olympics, Barcelona Heiner helmed the Dutch Soling.

1996

Heiner switched back to the Finn for the 1996 Summer Olympics, Savannah and took the bronze medal.

In 1996 Heiner founded his Sailing academy: Team Heiner nowadays located in Lelystad.
