1931

Rosa Rosal was born on October 16, 1931 in the Philippines as Florence Lansang Danon.

1947

She was spotted by a movie producer when she was 17. Her first movie was Kamagong: Bayani ng Mahirap (1947).

1949

At the height of her reign as Philippine movie queen in 1949, she visited the Philippine General Hospital Emergency Room and saw a young girl, who fell from a five-story building, in a coma. Through the Red Cross, Rosal managed to find blood for a transfusion and then watched as the girl's eyes fluttered open again, to life. This starts her life-lasting commitment with Philippine National Red Cross.

1950

One of her first deeds as a Red Cross volunteer was to organize in July 1950 a blood donation at the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa.

1958

Was supposed to appear in Malvarosa (1958). But because she was pregnant, she was replace by Caridad Sanchez.

1989

During the bloody coup of 1989 in the Philippines, Rosal appealed for blood over the radio and courted danger by personally delivering emergency supplies to city hospitals.

1999

A Ramon Magsaysay awardee (1999). She was honored for her public service. The award is annually given to Asian individuals and organizations for achieving excellence in their respective fields.

2000

A Lifetime Achievement Awardee of Mowelfund Film Institute (2000). Mowelfund (or Movie Workers Welfare Foundation) is a non-stock, non-profit social welfare, educational and industry development foundation aims to protect players in the Philippine movie business.

2005

Conferred the degree of Doctor of Humanities honoris causa by the Far Eastern University in 2005.

2006

Given Order of the Golden Heart Awards by Philippines President Gloria Arroyo on October 26, 2006. Golden Heart is the second highest presidential award, next only to Sikatuna which is given to diplomats.
