Timeline
Ronny Nelson (born 28 August 2003) is an English Professional Footballer who typically plays as a Centre-Back, currently for Colchester United, although is expected to join Tonbridge Angels on a free transfer following 1 July 2024, ahead of club's upcoming campaign.
Nelson began his footballing career as part of the Gillingham Academy, before securing a switch to Leicester City in 2021, where he would sign his first professional contract with the club in February 2022, becoming a regular starter in the club's U21's side, although would fail to make his senior debut, being released from his contract prior to the beginning of 2023/24 Season.
Following his release, Nelson would make the move to EFL League Two side Colchester United, where he would make his debut for his new club and first ever senior appearance when he was named in the Starting XI by manager Ben Garner in what would become a 0–5 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur U21's, having previously only making the matchday squad as an unused substitute in the side's opening fixture against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.
From this point onwards, Nelson would not make any further cameos for the Essex-based side, instead being sent out on a singular month loan spell to National League South, Torquay United making just two appearances against Farnborough and Weymouth respectively.
Nelson would soon be presented however with another move, ironically signing on loan for Dartford on the same day his previous side Torquay United had comprehensively dispatched the London outfit in a 4–1 victory for The Gulls, a game which he had featured in as an unused substitute against his new side.
Nelson would make his third club debut of the season for Dartford against eventual National League South Play-Off Champion's Braintree Town and featured in every minute of the team's remaining fixtures, making a total of 10 appearances.
Despite a promising spell at Dartford to round off the season, and only making 1 appearance for the club, Colchester United under the new leadership of Danny Cowley would inform Nelson that they would not be looking to retain his services ahead of the new season.
Nelson shortly after signed for Tonbridge Angels on a free transfer, and will join at the time of his contract with Colchester United coming to a close.
