In 1958, he was created a Knight of the Garter. In 1977, he was appointed a Knight of the Thistle.

1966

In 1966, he attended Geelong Grammar School's Timber Top program for 12 months. The Timber Top program is a year of schooling in an outdoor environment with regular outdoor physical tasks and training. The Timber Top campus is situated in Mansfield in the state of Victoria, Australia - approximately 200 kilometers north-east of Melbourne.

1969
