Older brother of rock photographer and archivist Michael Ochs (b. 1943). Also has an older sister, Sonny.

1960

Learned to play the guitar after winning one in a bet with college roommate, Jim Glover, about the 1960 Presidential election. Jim Glover would go on to form folk duo Jim and Jean with Jean Ray.

1962

Attended Ohio State University, but dropped out mere months before graduation, in 1962.

1968

Hit #118 on the Billboard's "Bubbling Under" singles chart in 1968 with "Outside of a Small Circle of Friends" (A&M 891)

Served as one of several celebrity witnesses to testify at the trial of the "Chicago Eight" featuring defendants, Abbie Hoffman, David Dellinger, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden, Bobby Seale, Rennie Davis, John Froines and Lee Weiner (1969-1970).
