Theatrical choreographer. Read began her dancing career with the British dance troupe, the Tiller Girls. Her Broadway career started as a chorus girl in 1917 but soon began devising dance movements, becoming a choreographer exclusively by 1923. She was active on Broadway until late 1935, when the New York Tiller School was closed. She then retired to the life of a professor's wife.
