She has appeared in many independent films since the early 1990s.
Forte married screenwriter Oliver Mayer in 2006.
They live in Los Angeles, California.
They have no children together, but Forte has daughter Giselle Rodriguez, who works as producer, from a previous relationship.
She received an Imagen Award nomination for performance in the 2008 film Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story.
