Marina Yurievna Dmitrevskaya (Мари́на Ю́рьевна Дмитре́вская; born 1953) is a theater critic and theater scholar.

Candidate of Art History, Professor.

Creator, editor-in-chief and director of the St. Petersburg Theater Magazine.

Born in Vologda into a family of teachers at the Vologda Pedagogical Institute.

Father Yuri Dmitrevsky, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, author of numerous monographs, the first honorary Africanist of Russia.

Mother Tamara Besedina, candidate of philological sciences, literary critic, author of articles and books.

1976

In 1976 she graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (now RGISI), Faculty of Theater Studies, specialty “Theater Studies”.

1977

Since 1977, Dmitrevskaya has been actively involved in theater criticism.

Author of more than 2,000 articles in theatrical periodicals, as well as books about Rezo Gabriadze and Alexander Volodin.

1982

Since 1982 he has been conducting a seminar on theater criticism at the Faculty of Theater Studies of the Russian State Institute of Social Sciences.

On 6 June 2024, Dmitrevskaya was dismissed by the decision of rector Natalya Pakhomova due to an “immoral act”.

Previously, she published a post on social networks in which she criticized the actions of the Russian authorities and sympathized with people declared “foreign agents”.

Marina was fined 30 thousand rubles for “discrediting the army”.
