Marie Ney was born on July 18, 1895 in Chelsea, London, England as Marie Agnes Fix.

1930

British stage and radio actress of patrician countenance, in occasional sound films from 1930. She started her acting career in New Zealand and (with the Williamson Company) in Australia, later honing her skills at the Old Vic and Drury Lane in London. Ney was for many years involved with British Actor's Equity and was a fervent advocate of live theatre. In private life she was a collector of fine arts and books.

1955

She was an actress, known for Simba (1955), Escape! (1930) and BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950). She was married to Thomas Menzies.

1959

She was originally cast in a prominent role in "Ben-Hur" (1959), playing the mother of the Charlton Heston and Cathy O'Donnell characters. However, as she was British and they were American, director William Wyler replaced her with Martha Scott.
