By directing William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee in Doctor Who: The Three Doctors: Episode One (1972) and Tom Baker in Doctor Who: The Hand of Fear: Part One (1976), he was one of only three directors (the others being Christopher Barry and Douglas Camfield) to direct episodes of Doctor Who (1963) starring all of the first four actors to play the Doctor in the series.
