Karl Farr was born on April 25, 1909 in Rochelle, Texas, USA as Karl Marx Farr.

1946

He was an actor, known for Heldorado (1946), Sons of the Pioneers (1942) and Two-Fisted Rangers (1939). He was married to May Barksdale.

1961

On September 22, 1961, he appeared on stage with The Sons of the Pioneers before a crowd of 4,000 in West Springfield, MA. He broke a string while playing his acoustic Martin on a solo of 'Up A Lazy River'. This upset him very much and while trying to remove the broken string, he slumped down on to the floor. Fellow band members Tommy Doss and Dale Warren carried him off the stage. Although Farr was not officially pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, the doctor in charge later said he was DOA for all intents and purposes, with the cause being a heart attack.

1980

Elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980 as a member of the Sons of the Pioneers.

1995

With his brother Hugh Farr he was inducted as a member of the Sons of the Pioneers into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1995.
